Timephoon! and GlomTales!: Plot of the Louie Two-Parter
Factual plot summary of the connected DuckTales (2017) episodes 'Timephoon!' and 'GlomTales!', including the time-travel disaster, Louie's grounding, and the Duke Baloney contract twist.
"Timephoon!" (DuckTales 2017, season 2, episode 21, aired September 9, 2019) and "GlomTales!" (S2E22) form a connected two-parter centered on Louie Duck. In "Timephoon!", Louie borrows Gyro Gearloose's Time Tub to run a venture pulling lost treasures from history at the moment before they were lost, reasoning that nobody will miss things already considered gone. His repeated time-tampering interacts with a hurricane bearing down on Duckburg and produces the titular "timephoon" — a temporal vortex that scatters the family across eras and drags historical figures, pirates, and even a dinosaur into the present. Louie eventually fixes it by using the Time Tub to send the displaced people back simultaneously. But his mother Della Duck, recently returned from a decade stranded on the moon (Spear of Selene), grounds him and shuts down his scheming after he tried to deflect blame and lied to Scrooge McDuck. It is the first time anyone in the series calls Louie out, and his "I wonder where I got that from" highlights the parallel to Della's own past recklessness. "GlomTales!" continues directly: Louie is still grounded while the family is away on a bet with Flintheart Glomgold, who assembles Scrooge's villains into a parody "family" to win. When the villains attack the manor and find only Louie, he claims to have masterminded it and gets Glomgold to sign a contract combining their fortunes — which on paper makes Glomgold richer than Scrooge. The twist: the contract names "Flintheart Glomgold," a fake identity (his real name is Duke Baloney), so by a fine-print alias clause the money flows to Glomgold's only legitimate partner, Llewellyn "Louie" Duck. This sets up the next episode, with Louie controlling the combined villain fortune.
